Ladakh can be reached by two famous mountain routes: the Manali–Leh Highway and the Srinagar–Leh Highway. These scenic roads are generally open during the warmer months and may close in winter because of heavy snowfall.

Best Time to Visit Ladakh

Ladakh can be visited throughout the year, but the best experience depends on the season and the places you plan to explore.

Spring brings gradually warmer days and clear mountain views. Some high-altitude roads and remote areas may still remain closed because of snow.

Summer (April-June)

Summer is the most popular time to visit Ladakh. The weather is comfortable for sightseeing, road trips, trekking and visiting places such as Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley.

Monsoon (July-September)

Ladakh receives very little rainfall compared with many other parts of India. This period is suitable for sightseeing, although road conditions may occasionally be affected by rain or landslides in nearby mountain regions.
